Selected for the Saucy Mama Recipe Contest

I am super excited and humbled to be chosen as one of twenty nine food bloggers to receive a bloggers kit filled with six fantastic Saucy Mama’s Wing Sauces and Dressings. I get to create one original recipe that I will enter for a chance to win $1000.00 along with $1000.00 travel and hotel expenses to participate in the World Foods Championships in Las Vegas November 12th-18th.

Once the sauces arrived in the mail, my mind started spinning. I began opening each bottle, smelling and tasting. Each meal that I prepared for my family had the chance of being mixed or topped with one of Saucy Mama’s products. Here is a peek at what I have been creating so far.

Grilled Artichokes brushed with Saucy Mama’s Four Leaf Balsamic Vinaigrette and Marinade was our first taste test. I have to say that I have only had artichokes boiled and served with mayonnaise until now. My wonderful foodie friend Leslie grows artichokes and shared with me how she grills her artichokes after they are boiled. She told me that she drizzles olive oil on them with salt and pepper and then grills them on each side for several minutes. I decided to give that a go.

I trimmed the outer peel of the stems and cleaned off the bottom leaves of each choke. I boiled them for about 25 minutes or until the stems/bottom of artichokes are tender. Cut each artichoke in half and then remove the fuzzy choke from the center. Brush on Saucy Mama’s Four Leaf Vinaigrette and Marinade over the cut choke and season with salt and pepper. Preheat grill and place artichokes cut side up first for several minutes and then turn to finish grilling for several minutes on the other side.

Next I made Steamer Clams in butter and garlic with Mofongo drizzled with Saucy Mama’s Orange Habanero Wing Sauce and chopped cilantro. Outstanding dinner!!

Then I dressed up my sauteed brussels sprouts and crumbled bacon with the Four Leaf Balsamic Vinaigrette and Marinade. Fantastic!
