Time for your blog to bloom where it’s planted #FWCon

Is it time to feed your blog for some new growth? Let me recommend the 2017 Food Wine Conference presented by Sunday Supper in Orlando Florida May 19th-21st.

I am sure you have heard the old saying “Bloom where you are planted”.  I often wondered what that meant. They say that one should go for opportunities but still be grateful for their current situations. Hmmm, I think I can relate. Maybe it’s time to for your blog to bloom where it’s planted at the #FWCon Food Wine Conference by Sunday Supper.

I do believe that a person needs to be content with where they are in life and still be looking forward to new goals, changes and growth. I actually find it easier to be happy now and not have a longing for something more all of the time. That can be extremely draining.

Years ago I decided to resign from a great paying job to reduce the everyday stress of my job from affecting my current health issues. It was a huge step for me to leave my position and trust what was ahead.  Not everyone can quit their job, take on a small part time position to make their dreams come true.

I had a desire to start a blog that focused on my love for entering recipe contests and cook-offs. I knew that it would take time to build the blog and after several years of working at it, I can confirm that it does take time. I did however find more time to work hard to make it slowly happen.

Shortly after I started blogging my connections to new opportunities started blooming. I landed a position with the Oregon State Fair to organize their food contests for their Creative Living Stage. I hosted the fabulous Food Network Emily Ellyn and Simon Majumdar during the last two fairs. Not every blogger gets to host great celebrities in their home as these two.

Emily told me about a great Food Wine Conference in her area, Orlando Florida. She said if I wanted to grow my blog I need to attend a conference and this would be a great one.

Knowing it was time to feed and water the blog I had been growing, I signed up for the  2016 Food Wine Conference by Sunday Supper in Orlando Florida. The event was held at the stunning Rosen Shingle Creek Resort. Oh my, is this place amazing. If it is not to late, try to book your stay here.

The conference started on opening night with an event called the Taste of Rosen Shingle Creek that was hosted by the restaurants within the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort.

The food was absolute perfection but what was more amazing was the fun group of people that I was now surrounded by. Other bloggers, foodies, writers, food critics that were mostly new to me and a few familiar faces.

The following days were filled with wonderful speakers including an American restaurateur and TV celebrity Chef Donatella Arpaia.

This years special guest speaker is Ina Pinkney who is a chef and cookbook author, who ran her popular restaurant Ina’s for more than 30 years. She has won many awards, including the Golden Whisk Award from the Women Chefs and Restaurateurs Organization for excellence in the kitchen. I look forward to hearing her story.

We had session breakouts that offered outstanding information for building your blog/business. Two of the sessions I attended were on how to utilize Twitter for your business and how to make a “Tasty” style food video. One of my favorites was the food styling class we had by Denise Vivaldo. I have used several of her great tips, now if I could just master the rest of her tricks. Denise is returning this year to share more of her 30 years of experience.

During the fun #Hashed cooking competition that brought together teams and mystery food ingredients, I met Amy Barrett, blog owner of My World Life Simplified. We chatted and I got all excited as I found out that Amy is a Sunday Supper blogger. She offered to come to the Oregon State Fair to do a cooking demo and talk about the Sunday Supper Movement. Hosting Amy at my home was another grand moment in meeting new people who share the same passions as I do. I am blessed. I can’t wait to see Amy again.

Last year the conference hosted an Idaho Potato Poutine recipe contest for free conference passes along with gift cards. I was so excited when I learned that I was chosen as the second prize winner with my Salted Caramel Apple Dessert Poutine with Toasted Pecans and Cheddar.

This year, Wish Farms and Florida Dairy Farmers are hosting two recipe contests with gift cards, reimbursement for the conference pass and more! I am in the kitchen dreaming up recipes as I type, eat, sleep, etc etc!!!!!

I can’t forget about the evening dinner party. It was a Diamonds and Denim theme. I had so much fun letting my daughters help me pick an outfit. The dinner was a spectacular Cowgirl Ribeye covered in mushrooms and all the side and oh yeah, WINE, Wine and more Wine!!

Food, more food, more food. 🙂

Wine, wine and more wine!! 🙂 🙂 Thank you CK Mondavi

This year the dinner theme is a 50’s Soc Hop…I have my polka dotted dress and white Bobbie socks ready!!

No excuses to feed to your dream. The people you meet, the information you learn are all so valuable. Did I mention the people or should I call them forever friends and family? This year I am so honored to be accepted as a Brand Ambassador. I will be share on social media during the conference.
