Can I change out the mild Italian sausage for other protein?
There are great alternatives to using Italian pork sausage. Italian ground chicken and seasoned Italian ground turkey meat are great substitutes. Shorten the oven bake time by pre-cooking the protein.

Italian Sausage and Sea Asparagus Pesto Stuffed Zucchini
Italian Sausage and Sea Asparagus Pesto Stuffed Zucchini is a quick and easy dinner for two using Foraged & Found Sea Asparagus Pesto.
Ingredients
- 1 large zucchini
- 2 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3 oz. fully cooked mild Italian sausage
- 3 tbs. Foraged & Found Sea Asparagus Pesto
- 1/2 roasted red bell pepper, jar style, chopped
Instructions
- Trim the stem end off of the zucchini, cut in half lengthwise
- and scoop out some of the inside by running a spoon down
- the center to create a boat for the filling.
- Combine the remaining ingredients into a bowl and stuff
- into the zucchini halves. Place in an oven safe baking dish
- or on baking sheet and cook for 15-20 minutes.
